Altruist Belt Rankings

This is the final Belt Testing (aka “The Kumu’s Cup”) at our location. It takes place on:

Saturday November 12th

1pm - 4pm

You do not have to be here for 3 hours. Specific start times for each child’s division will be listed as we get closer to testing.

This will also act as our Thanksgiving Potluck, where you are invited to bring a dish that people can help themselves to throughout the day. A sign up form will be posted at the dojo.

The Kumu’s Cup will be a tournament (MMA style) with the winners going on to the next opponent. Trophies will be awarded to 1st place division winners, followed by medals, then ribbons for 3rd place.

Testing is NOT required. Though if your child would like to earn a belt, see if their moves work in a heightened stressful setting, then have them participate!

In addition we will also have an ABSOLUTE NO TIME LIMIT SUB ONLY GRAPPLING division for Men / Women (this includes Teens)!

Entry will be $25 per person and Winners will receive a % of the pot!

1st place: 70%

2nd place: 20%

3rd place: 10%

More details forthcoming but let me know if you’re interested in making them Black Friday dolla dolla billz (ya’ll).

Students will be placed into a fair division based on their weight and skill (not necessarily belt ranking). This ensures fair matches.

The best display of Martial Artistry (technique, sportsmanship, heart) will be awarded the “Kumu’s Cup.”

This is a tournament with winners and losers. Yet, those that are participating for their testing, winning is not required to earn your belt. Being a good sport and not quitting, are.

Due to the impacted timeline and the move to Ohana, the only stripes required will be AMBER stripes (for their good deed) which can be completed after the Kumu’s Cup.

Please double check your child’s rank and eligibility below and contact me with any questions. If your child is not testing it is 99% due to lack of training time requirements, not that they are in trouble.

If your child is unable to participate, make up testing may be offered when we resume at Ohana.

This Kumu’s Cup is open to students NOT testing as well. Parents / Teens / Adults, let me know if you/your child would like to compete.

Here’s to a final hurrah at the dojo!
